Glossary

ECARD's key terms explained simply.

This glossary gathers the terms you'll come across in ECARD and in this documentation. Each definition links to the matching detailed section; if you're unsure about a step, see also troubleshooting.

Organization & team

Organization — Your main account (your company). It groups all users, templates, contacts and settings. Billing is managed at this level. See Organization & team.

Space — A sub-unit of an organization (subsidiary, branch, department) that partitions users, templates and permissions. See Spaces.

User — A person in your organization who carries a card, a profile page, a signature or a digital card.

Profile — A user's digital record (name, job title, company, phone numbers, social links…). This data feeds the public page, the vCard, the signature and the digital card.

Administrator — A person with access to the dashboard, holding a role (Owner, Administrator, Manager, Member, Viewer). See Users & roles.

Entity — A brand or department with its own visual identity (logo, colors), useful when several brands coexist.

Group — A set of users (by team, department, site) used for targeting (assigning a template/an order to a whole group).

Tag — A free-form label to segment users and contacts.

Cards & sharing

NFC card — A physical chip-enabled business card: held near a smartphone, it opens the chosen content. See NFC Cards.

Card mode — What the card does when scanned: Profile (public page), Link (URL), vCard (contact file), Default (organization setting).

Named / anonymous card — Named = pre-assigned to a person before printing; anonymous = activated by any user with their email.

Edit link — Personal link emailed to a user so they can update their own card without dashboard access. Their changes apply straight away or after an administrator approves them, depending on the mode chosen when sending. See Edit link.

Activation — The step that links a received card to a profile and makes it work. See Activate a card.

Profile page — A user's public web page, shared by card, QR or link. See Profile page.

vCard (.vcf file) — A standard contact record you can save into your address book in one tap. See vCard.

Digital card — The digital version of the card in Apple Wallet / Google Wallet. See Wallet.

Wallet mode — As with the card, what the digital card's QR does when scanned (Profile, Link, vCard, Default), resolved at scan time. See Modes & QR.

QR code — A scannable code pointing to a profile or a link.

Contact form — A form shown on a profile page to capture a visitor, who then becomes a contact. See Contact form.

Content & marketing

Template — A shared, reusable layout (profile page, card, signature, digital card, vCard) that ensures brand consistency.

Email signature — A consistent signature inserted into emails, powered by variables. See Email signatures.

Variable — A dynamic field (e.g. {{user.firstName}}) replaced with each user's real information.

Campaign — A scheduled marketing banner, shown on signatures, profile pages and digital cards. See Campaigns.

Contact — A person captured via a profile form, a card scan, a manual add or an import. See Contacts.

Tracking & integrations

Statistics — Engagement measurement (views, scans, clicks). See Statistics.

Integration — A connection to a third-party tool (Microsoft Entra, Outlook add-in, webhooks). See Integrations.

Microsoft Entra ID — Microsoft's directory (formerly Azure AD) from which ECARD can synchronize your users.

Webhook — An automatic call to a URL when an event occurs (e.g. a new contact) to feed a CRM or an automation.

Account & subscription

Account — Your personal access (identity, sign-in, security), managed under Personal settings. Distinct from the profile (card data). See Account & security.

Plan — Your organization's ECARD package: it determines the available modules and the number of users included. See Subscription.

Module — A feature that can be enabled depending on the plan (signatures, wallets, campaigns…). A missing section is often a module that isn't included.

Card credit — A unit consumed when ordering an NFC card. See Subscription.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) — A second check at sign-in, on top of the password. See Two-factor authentication.
