Email signatures

Group variables

Show the address, phone or logo of each user's group (agency, department, HQ…).

Your groups can carry their own information: name, phone, email, address, logo, colors, social links, links. Group variables show it in your templates (signature, profile page, digital card, NFC card).

In the variable picker, open the "Group" section. It first asks: which group should the information come from? There are three possible answers.

Example org chart

HQ                        ← level 1
├── Lyon Agency           ← level 2
│   └── Sales Department  ← level 3
└── Paris Agency          ← level 2

Marie is in "Sales Department" (Lyon), Paul is in "Paris Agency".

1. Dynamic - Auto — the right choice in most cases

"Dynamic - Auto" option: uses the user's most specific group. E.g. {{user.groupauto.phone}}.

Varies per user. ECARD takes the information from their most specific group; if it isn't filled in there, from the group above, and so on up to the top.

Phone filled in on…Result
MarieLyon Agency (not on Sales Department)Lyon Agency's phone
PaulHQ onlyHQ's phone

Ideal for "my agency's address": everyone sees their own, and the HQ acts as the default value.

2. Dynamic - Manual — always the same floor of the org chart

"Dynamic - Manual" option: uses a specific group linked to the user, the one at a given level of the org chart ("Level 1", "Level 2"…). E.g. {{user.group1.logo}}. Under each level, the picker shows example groups at that level ("e.g. Lyon Agency, Paris Agency").

Varies per user, but always targets the same level of their branch. No fallback: empty when the information isn't filled in at that level.

  • {{user.group1.logo}} → the HQ logo, for Marie and Paul alike.
  • {{user.group2.name}} → "Lyon Agency" for Marie, "Paris Agency" for Paul.
  • {{user.group3.name}} → "Sales Department" for Marie, empty for Paul.

Useful when each level has a specific role: the group logo on top, the agency name below.

This option only appears when your groups have at least two levels.

3. Fixed — the same value for everyone

"Fixed" option: uses a group's fixed data, regardless of the user. You pick the group from the list. E.g. {{group.<identifier>.address}}.

Fixed value: the same for every user, whether or not they belong to that group. Handy for the HQ address in every signature.

User in several branches: the primary group

A user can belong to several groups. The "Dynamic - Auto" and "Dynamic - Manual" options follow a single branch: that of their primary group (the star on their profile, Variables group section). By default, ECARD picks their deepest group.

Template and campaign targeting, on the other hand, takes all their groups into account.

Check the result

In the editor preview, pick a user to see the real values. If a group variable shows empty, check:

  1. that the information is filled in on the right group (Organization → Groups);
  2. the user's primary group, if they are in several branches;
  3. for "Dynamic - Manual", that the user actually has a group at that level.
